squeak from rear of car
Discussion
noticed when i pulled into the car park in newcastle a squeak from the rear right wheel. Hadn't heard on the way down, not too loud but enough for me to want to visit a garage, think it wilt be ok to get back to Glasgow or should i fine a newcastle garage? It's a squek rather than a grind. I had a sticking calliper on that brake last month is it likely to be this?
More likely to be coming from the pad / shim / pins that hold the pad in place if it's a squeal. Does it go away when you brake or pull the handbrake on a fraction?
It's an easy fix; jack car up, remove wheel, remove brake pads, cover back of pads and any shims and pins with copperease, replace, reverse process.

You want us to diagnose a squeak over the internet and tell you if you're safe to drive with it?
Yeah, we're full of tricks like that.
If you're worried, go to a local garage and get a second opinion from someone who can see and hear the car.
Oh, and a chicken sandwich, to pre-empt your next question.

A bearing will be more of a rumbling / droning noise. A squeal is more likely to be brake pads. Grinding is pretty serious.
Was definitely a squeal, went to another hotel to pick friends up, no noise and no heat in the disk so drove home, still no noise. Taking the car to the garage tomorrow. Heartworm said:
