I use latex on mine. It does split occasionally which can be problematic but generally its ok

Depends if it needs to be SA2005 approved or not. For fire reasons you need specific stickers/paints.

It should be possible. Chap who is a professional paint protection film installer, told me that he wrapped helmet in a paint protection film.

Does vinyl wrap shrink after application? 'Cos if not you might find it difficult to wrap a near spherical object!

I think you can apply using a heat gun to form round certain shapes such as wing mirrors? Could be wrong. I'm just after a plain white wrap to cover the dodgy colour it is.

There's a video online of a chap who works for a vinyl company perfectly wrapping a football, to show how good they are at curves.

Now that is impressive!

Do you think regular vinyl will work if attempting yourself? Never done this before so likely to be rubbish!

My dad has just attempted wrapping some bits of a kit car we're building, so we've done a bit of investigation on the matter.

Go for the expensive stuff (for a helmet the amount you need won't cost much) and have a play. It's not one time application stuff. Also on that video I saw, they crumped up a brand new piece, with the stick side revealed, and pulled it all apart, put it on a car, teased out the creases and it looked perfect. So it erally is not somethign that you need to get right first time - you can play with it.

Im just up the road from you Tony, would be good to see how you get on with that!

I'll take a look at the 3M site and see what they do.

thumbup

Do consider fire though. I've no idea if wrap is fire proof/retardant or not, and considering it's for a helmet it would be a bit rubbish if it caught fire very well biggrin
