Toyota GT-86 pre orders

Hi all, just read in autocar that only 133 deposits have been put down on the GT-86. Seem's quite low to me after the major interest on PH and in other mags. Released in july I believe. Suppose interest will pick up once demos arrive but all the same not great sales numbers so far.

For a mainstream car that is still good, once the demonstrators arrive that number will go up.

If i could afford it i would be going Subaru and i know a few others who would rather have that badge than the Toyota. Reverse badge snobbery.

I'd never buy a car without having 1st driven a demonstrator myself, no matter how glowing the reviews.

I might cancel the evoque i ordered last june and order one instead, the toyota will probably turn up first.

If you pre-order now, youll recieve yours in June!! So may well be quicker than the LR!!

We have one pre-order here, thats it. Hoping to pick up a fair few more though, hitting everything I know with it!

I'm with you on that one. But its surprising how many people buy used cars without seeing and driving them. I suppose a new car is slightly different and proving more risky to bu 'blind' as you've nothing to compare it with.

I got the brochure from Toyota and it has information etc. about options but I think I'd want to drive one before actually pre ordering, especially as it's being sold as a drivers car. Will wait and see what happens.

They're fairly pricey aren't they? So I think that the sort of people who will really love this car aren't the sort of people with the cash to drop on one...

They're priced against the Golf-sized hot hatch market, which seems pretty good to me for a proper drivers' car.

Doesn't share the practicality, though. Anyone with a family or who carries anything won't be able to use them. Anyone looking for a fun second car is unlikely to go for one.

I'd be surprised if either this or the equivalent are big sellers.

Doesn't seem overly surprising. It's not an exclusive car where the rarity is a great part of the appeal a la Ferraris. I'd certainly want to buy before I bought.

Lots of families have two cars where there might already be a hatch/estate for the really practical stuff. This car would be practical enough, and can carry a family of four for days out etc. I think it will sell well.

I have also, traditionaly done this simultaneously rather than consecutively

That's probably considerably more orders than the mg6 has had and that's been on sale for months!

I've been seriously tempted, but I want to see the boot size before I commit as it'd be my only car and I need to move my PA system on occassion. That, and I want to see the Subaru too.

The dealer local to me has sold a grand total of 3 since it was launched
