I know there is a "12 plate" car thread already running but thought this was worthy of it's own thread.

First time I have seen the new 991 in the flesh and all I can say is WOW.

I, like many I'm sure, have become rather bored of the 997 generation car and the 911 had dropped significantly down my "favourite cars" list that we all keep mentally. The R8 and V8V seemed so much more interesting and purposeful in the flesh and I wasn't sure from the pictures that the new car was going to change that.

How wrong I was.

Lower, wider and longer than the current car is how it immediately struck me, and with a much more purposeful and aggresive stace on the road. From every angle it made the 997 look very old hat and "normal" and reminded me of why I have been a 911 fan all these years. It genuinely looks to have jumped up a class into more "supercar" territory.

If the lower end of the range look this good then the GT3, Turbo and GT2 (assuming they make them all) should be a real treat.

Right then, who's going to be the first "original" person to a) call it a Beetle or b) quote JC and say it hasn't changed at all?

That's the bonus of working in the Chelsea/Kensington area. Aventadors, 599 GTO's etc. seem to be an almost daily occurrence.

The fact that it stood out immediately in an area where every other car is a 997 is a testament to just how much better it looks.
