I believe the older stuff would, and it would go acidic.
There newer longlife stuff probably will too but over a longer period.

Leave it out in a bowl for the Cats - they love it.

I always leave it in a labelled plastic bottle in the 'chemcial' area of my local tip. I presume they know what to do with it :P
