Sunday March 4

OK so it was persisting it down, with the odd bit of snow mixed in at first.

But the spray off the roads!? At least in Midlands, East Mids and Yorkshire it seemed to be a mixture of old sump oil, molasses, and axle grease. At half way point had to have a session of degunking the screen, and that is with decent wipers and washers with good additive concentration it still smeared beyond any semi acceptable level.

Also never seen so many shunts in one day, quite a few with medics attending too.

Mind you when you have numpties (plural!!!!) trying to leave Tibshelf services and head south on the northbound carriageway perhaps it's not surprising there were shunts.

Pity the poor chap on the Sheffield parkway though, what appeared to be a nice RS4 with front end missing.

Have done around 170 miles this weekend.

I saw a smashed up MG TF buried in some trees yesterday (just off a roundabout and a nice sweeping bend). I also noticed yesterday that (sometime between 11am on Saturday and 4pm then) someone has managed to wipe out the sign that greets you with my town name on the A16. I also saw loads of smashed up plastic in the road too.

I think it was the weather.

Saying that, I nearly got wiped out on two occassions on the A17 yesterday. It was pissing it down with rain and sleet and two vehicles (travelling in the opposite direction) both started overtaking before I'd finished travelling past them! eek
