just to settle some differing thoughts...how successful is mounting 120mm PCD5 stud (say BMW) wheels to 120.65mm 4.75" PCD hubs say XJ8 1999 jaguar

can you "get away with it" or isnt it the done thing atall.........

I'm not sure whether you can just get away with it, but if you can't and you have a car with bolts rather than studs, I know there exist things called "wobbly bolts" which have a floating collar that allows the bolt to sit through two slightly eccentric holes. Used a lot by Fiat/Alfa guys (who have 4x98mm PCD) to fit 100mm wheels.

ahh thanks - never heard of wobbly bolts......

the argument was that alot of aftermarket wheels are not made that accurate anyway 0.3mm to seating position

This is more important - if there's a gap, then you get terrible wheel vibration.

I think you might be okay if the bolts/ studs have a flat face, but if they are tapered it could be a bit dodgy.

hub mount diameter is a fine fix as spigot rings are pretty universal 70.1 to 72.6 as an example

M12 x1.5 taper seat bolts...

You would need to test fit a wheel to check brake clearance and some of those older Jags have a massive stub axle which can complicate centre cap fitment.

Honestly though I think BMW wheels will look naff although the fitment of them is popular enough

I can't see .325mm per stud causing any issues. You may just have to be careful getting the thread started but the tolerance of the holes should allow for that.
