Gona be on the look out very soon for a new Motor.

Cut it down to several, but still finding it very hard to make a decision. So some views and opinions from some owners who have possibly owned the named cars.

Initially i had my heart set on an Exige 240, or 260 Cup, however i am looking for something that will no doubt do more road miles than trackdays.

Porsche Cayman S has really grown on me and i reckon would suit my needs just fine. Initially i was thinking Pre Gen 2, but the Scored bores that some have suffered has kinda steered me towards the Gen 2.

Other possibilities are the Z4M and the 370Z. All very competent and well specced cars, so really a hard choice.
Unsure if i will use it as a daily driver, Don't need a car for work?

Never driven any of them. Hopefully get a chance when i return from overseas.

Z4M seems to be a popular machine, gets a lot of popular reviews.

Why would you choose that in such a great line up?

Z4M for me too.
Cayman is probably dynamically better, just don't like it's styling/image.
370Z - Maybe a 350 10 years ago but no.

Z4M is just cloud9 put a set of CSL wheels on it.

Agree that this is probably the best option but they are just so....common and boring. I wish I could muster just one iota of desire for these cars but everytime I see one (which is about 10 times per hour) I feel like I am looking at the colour beige in sportscar guise.
AN Exige, whilst not ideal for your needs, would look and feel hugely special in comparison.
That said, its just about taste so if you like them and they feel special to you its definitely a sensible option

From howmanyleft.com figures: 1039 Z4M's are still on the road (including soft tops)

There are 1358 Nissan 370Z's in circulation.

By comparison, there are 1.3 million Ford Foci and 3543 Aston Martin DB9's.

Granted, it's not as rare as an Exige but you can hardly say these are common as muck. Presumably the same Z4M driver must go past you ten times an hour? wink

Z4M Coupe Common? You having a laugh?

There are only 20 for sale Mate on PHs, comparing with over 300 E46 M3s.

Over 2000 Ford Focuses on PH for sale, i'd call that Common.lol

Possibly. Or they are virtually indistinuishable from the millions of non-m z4s?

Millions?

The Z4coupe is not a common car, do you live next to a dealer?

I don't think this Dude has a clue that we are discussing the ZM4 and not just the regular Z4!!

I'd hardly call the car boring either, despite not having driven it, seen enough Vids of it on track, and it looks anything but boring!!! Its got a peach of an engine.

You could also look at the Exige RGB, has the same engine as the Cup 260 but isn't as bare inside. A few for sale in the classifieds at the moment and no matter how many Z4M were registered they only made 141 RGB's for the worldwide market as the last in the line S2 Exige with only 55 being registered in the UK.

If you could find one, this could be a very good shout.

As another left-field option if you want a less hardcore fixed roof Lotus... a Europa? Mixed reviews, and I have no first hand experience of them so I'll have to ask other PHers to comment.

...but I'd still take a Z4M!hehe

This is the problem with every "what car" thread ever. Ignore all the opinions on here and just test drive everything anyway.

I found an M3 CSL boring to drive on the road, and it certainly shouldn't have been. So you really can't tell how any particular car is going to feel to you without driving one. It's going to be your toy, the only thing it has to do is make you happy.

Of the cars listed so far I'd be getting a Europa SE (not the S, based on having driven both of them). I'm not you though.

This, mostly. What I would say is that these threads sometimes throw up options you hadn't considered. I know it's a different kettle of fish but my Octavia vRS was bought because someone suggested a car I hadn't considered.

Definitely test drive as many as you can. thumbup

The Z4M is a great car, but you can't ignore the Cayman S, both great looking and handling cars. Drive both, pick your favorite!

Some nice suggestions there and i will research.

Yeh as exactly said, sometimes these posts throw up ideas you never thought of or considered.

I will concentrate on some test drives when i get home. The RGB did cross my mind. Only issue(not a major one) is touring in the Lotus Exige across Europe, which i intend to do, could be problematic for space, unless i bin the Other half(hope she don't read this).lol

Been mulling over some more, another dilemma, but again, a good one in my eyes.

I get to keep my Honda FD2 R as a daily driver and the Z4M as the weekend/track toy. Cayman, Lotus, or 370Z would mean getting shot of the FD2 and buying a run about. Just wish i could make my mind up. However i reckon a drive in them will possibly make my mind up.
