OMG. Most frustrating petrol station visit ever! Behind a guy so annoyingly unaware of how annoying and inconsiderate he was being that I almost got out and had a go at him. Stopped at the first pump, although the next one down was free, then puts the glove on, then must have put £1000 of fuel in because it took about 10 minutes. Then fiddles with petrol cap, then takes glove off and attempts to put it in the bin, misses, goes back to pick it up, goes in to pay, browses everything in the shop, comes back, arses around some more in the glovebox, adjusts the radio (if he was a bird he'd have been putting lippy on) then pulls off, then pauses a foot in front, puts seat belt on then finally fks off! Anyone else experienced anything similar? Was I right to be getting pissed or am I a nutter? Are people savouring their visits to the petrol station just to get their money's worth, taking the free gloves, wipes, using a bit of sand, perusing the mags etc or was he just a one off?

Have you ever tried to get the smell of diesel off your hands in a hurry because there is an impatient bloke behind you at the pumps? wink

I don't bother with them (the gloves!) but the OH sometimes 'liberates' one or two for medical purposes - she has badly cracked skin on one thumb. She once found that someone had stuffed a used one, it reeked of diesel, back into the dispenser. irked

I always use the gloves.
Turning up at a business meeting and shaking hands with an important person is so much better if you don't pass on a smell of Diesel.

Being a diesel I only fill my car every 3 weeks so I savour every moment. Sadly this also means the price can rise by 5p/litre between tankfuls frown . I therefore spend even longer to get better value for money.

ETA- Not sure how it gets on the pump handle but everytime I go into my local BP its covered also im sure they've rigged the pumps always a penny over no mater how hard you concentrate, if they are doing that to everyone they are making themselves a few quid! Also my local Esso Tesco is cheaper but its full of aholes doing their weekly shop whilst leaving their car at the pump inconsiderate bds!!!

More annoying when you fill up once or twice every day is the garages running out (more like not refilling the glove dispensers). Had my own supply in the van smile

If he pulled in to the first pump, why didn't you use the second one? Mongo.

Sometimes the second pump will have that jazzy super diesel stuff that's 5p more whereas the first will have the regular own brand st (that I use)

Handily my Volvo v70 fuel cap wedges nicely into the pump trigger so it can be done virtually hands free so never really get diesel on my hands.

They wk into those glove dispensers you know. Lonely working nights in a garage and no shortage of jazz mags.

I'll tell you what annoys me at my local Shell garage, shall I?

There are four pipes and nozzles parked in the pump unit.

From left to right - Shell Diesel V Power, Shell Diesel, Shell Petrol V Power, Shell Unleaded.

I ALWAYS fill up with V Power petrol, and hence, would I not be considered a 'preferred customer'?

So why the feck is 'my' nozzle right next to the most used Diesel nozzle?

The bloody thing is always dripping with diesel, where careless basterds throw the most used diesel nozzle back into the pump unit.

I'm trying to buy a 'premium' fuel, and haver to contend with a grubby, smelly nozzle for the most part.

Annoying. So yes, I always use the gloves!

And for what it's worth, I also use the gloves for doing my tyre pressures and filling my screen wash too, so there!

If you buy petrol station sandwiches, you're probably farting about in the shop while the rest of us wait for your pump to become free.

No sympathy here.
