Looking to get another car, here the criteria and my current shortlist.

> Must be able to insure through a classic policy
> Must achieve 15mpg (Pre HE Jag V12's are out frown)
> Must have some character
> Ideally have at least a 2.5 litre engine
> Sports car or classic saloon

Heres my shortlist -
MGC GT
Triumph TR6
Triumph GT6
Triumph 2500Pi
Rover P6 V8 Auto
Rover P5b
Rover SD1 Vitesse
Jaguar XJS
Jaguar XJC / XJ6
Daimler 2.5 V8

Anymore, I should be considering, people??? No MGB GT V8's as I already have 2, smile.

Does it have to be British?

If not, what about a Porsche 944? Or a Datsun Z car? Or something eighties and American with a big V8?

erm, well I can think of probably 800 or 900 other cars you could consider. Any chance of narrowing down what you are after or what you want to do with it?

Doesn't have to be British smile I've had 3 944's and have no interest in another! Well up for a Z-car but reckon I can't afford a decent 240/260Z???

Would love a bit of American V8 but my drive will *just* fit an XJ6 on the end (it's a bit narrow) sooooo not sure as it's right, for now? Suggestions welcome though smile

Honestly .... not really LOL! I'm up for anything from a hard core sports car to a large saloon!

No "hot hatches" but thats a given with the era! Nothing pre 1960...

Is there a plan to keep, to mod & upgrade or just a stop gap to then sell on for similar money?

ETA: Oops! Should have checked your profile first - you've already got one of those (and probably should have guessed from your user name, anyway. Doh!)

Let me have another go, er, TVR wedge or S ???

Some real different things there to consider smile

I had thought about a Capri before, a 70's one though smile Used to really fancy an M3 but insurance is a massive issue with those, I'm used to paying £200 per year max and as I have 3 other cars ... don't want one that will cost a fortune.

ALWAYS wanted a Corvette .... may have to check insurance situ out on American stuff smile

Not really up for a kit car at this moment in time.

If you get serious about a Yank, it's well worth phoning round some specialist insurers and not just the comparison websites. Also being a member of some of the recognised owners clubs can earn you discount too.

Forget the Chimaera. I take it all back. Get this. It is AWESOME!!

Set of polished American Racing Torque Thrust alloys on it, and you have one of the coolest cars ever.

Another car that I've seen on these threads where, if I had a heated barn, I'd be phoning the seller right now.

Tell me about it, cool just isn't the word. biggrin

I'd keep the wheels though.

Don't think it would sit right in our village though. frown

Erm, who gives a damn what the neighbours say?? I live in a tiny village too and I'm sure I'm known as the car nutter, LOL but who cares? biggrin

Want that Dodge sooooooo bad but must admit looking at it in the photos I don't think it would fit comfortably on my drive, which is a massive issue as I wouldn't want to leave it out on the road frown

I don't ever do the comparison websites lol! Seriously though, I know next to nothing about owning / insuring a Yank, where do I start looking? smile

Harry - Chimaera is out of the question, I actually can't drive one, find them really uncomfortable (I'm 5'2" and they seem to be made for tall people frown)
