Not intergallactic miles

Do you want an everyday car, or something less practical/ more weekend focused?

Loads of stuff around in any case;

Defender v8, Triumphs, TVRs, Monaros, Jag S-Type R/ XJR/ XKR, BMW 535i/540i etc, AMG Mercs, loads of Yank metal etc.

Don't know if I could base my entire criteria on an engine configuration, it is funny, most people who have them in the States just arent that fussed and dont get our obsession with it, I remember getting all excited about driving a Dodge Ram Minibus because it had a V8, they thought I was weird.

An s4 would be nice, but theyre quite muted arnt they - whats the diff between a resonated and non resonated exhaust, ones louder than the other?

Early Monaro would be my choice although you'd be looking at high teens to low 20's in terms of MPG.

I dont think they are that muted when pressing on. I saw one the other day and its got a nice tone to it when booting it. It is quiet all the other times though. If you want loud all the time, TVR.

Monaro would be my choice also. Big, comfy, simple, fast.

Non resonated exhausts tend to be louder, yes. Whatever you get though, a custom exhaust place will see you good in the sound stakes yes

Monaro would probably be my choice too, but £7k will mean you have a limited choice of early cars. Just about do-able though.

B6 S4 + Milltek - not as loud as some, but loud enough, great sounding V8 that revs freely.

This:

Ticks all boxes and comes from a dealer with a strong reputation of backing up their products.

A Corvette C4 would probably tick all those boxes better than anything else for this money.

Older L98 powered ones I prefer visually, but the latter LT1 powered ones are truly rapid with 300hp 6 speed manual or 4 speed auto giving 160mph ability and 0-60mph in the low 5's.

They'll even do high 20's/low 30's on the run. Easy and cheap to maintain and huge parts supply.

yes I quite like 'em too.

I guess a Camaro or 90's Trans-Am wouldn't be out of the question either.

Certainly not, although the more compact Vette might make a better daily depending on where you park.
