Why do fast Fords always fetch so much money?
Discussion
Looking at Autotrader this week I was amazed to see what Mk2 XR2s are making these days. Significantly more, for example than a 205 GTI with similar miles. THis surprised me as the MK2 XR2 never won many road tests when new. Ditto the XR3i, which I must admit I quite fancy, especially the late 80s model in white-yummy!!! A decent Xr3 will set you back more than a Mk2 Golf GTI it seems.... So why is it that old fast Fords always end up fetching better money than most of their rivals?
Its a combination of things. There is "the scene tax", the fact that although 205's are revered they are perceived as unreliable and French, possibly parts supply is more plentiful with the Ford and the fact that a carb'ed XR2 is probably a bit easier to work on than a Peugeot. These things can all add up to make it more desirable.
