I am getting steadily more drawn to this/these:

http://www.vincentknightcars.co.uk/used-cars/bentl...

Seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money and I like the looks etc. I know the running costs would be somewhat on the high side biggrin but I just keep coming back to how much car it is for the money. Not a lot else I have seen offer more in terms of sheer prestige and presence etc.

So what do we think, worst idea ever? (I think I probably know the answer to this but surely someone can convince me it would be a good idea smash)

Didnt realise you could get these for that money, its alot of motor but as you say running costs could be through the roof.

I like them but as a rule of thumb i have always thought bigger is better so that beasty engine appeals & they always sound nice when i hear them blast by.

I absolutely love them and think you should go for it!

The servicing isn't overly expensive (if you use an indi) and a phenomenal drive smile

Ridiculous Reply,

IMO it looks stunning, who cares if footballers like them?!

It's a Bentley, say no more.

Love the DB9 and would probably go for that over the Bentley but I was looking to spend around £25k on something, pushed that to £30k for this and then around £35k for a DB9. Got to draw the line somewhere!

I've run them quite a lot, in my experience they're quick, thirsty and the brakes aren't up to the job.

There have been a few threads about "cheap" continentals, amv8's, db9's and most come to the same conclusion:

Buy it
Enjoy it for 6 months
Sell it before something breaks.

Yes running costs will be horrific, servicing need'nt be as horrific if you go to the right place. Parts costs will kill you.

If you want one, go for it!
(but get a warranty)

What ever you say.

I personally don't care if its fast or expensive. I decide upon its merits.
Its beautifully built, supremely comfortable, very good looking and I suspect without VW's help it would not have been such a great car but at least YOU would like it, Eh?

DB9 for me of those two though if I wanted a big GT I'd also look at CL63 AMG, Maserati Granturismo and Panamera.

went and had a look and must say it is a stunning looking car! Very luxurious inside and feels like a nice place to be.

Not 100% on the drive, a little underwhelmed on first impressions tbh. Didnt feel especially sporty, not all that dynamic and not all that fast. Only did a quick test drive so think I will spend a little more time in it next week before deciding.

trust me, there is no point arguing with thinfourth2; if it's not electric he won't like it. if it was electric and it had a 20 mile range, he'd adore it.

I have only ever been passenger and I too was a little underwhelmed by its straight line speed, it was traded in against a CL63 AMG. It was still gorgeous though!

30k seems to be that magic number which can get you in almost every type of car you care mention. Lets us know what you decide, I would love to read about in 'Readers Rides'!
