Hi all
Been thinking about purchasing a small car for commuting and the occasionall track day.andAnd have been thinking about these.WHat is the general view on these.it also needs to carry the kiddies.fuel economy of about 40mpg is a must also.So think these might fit the bill nicely.
Thank you in advance for any help

I owned one for 2 years & 25000 miles. Capsicum red 'Full Fat' with Cup chassis and sound pack. Great car.

I averaged around 35mpg on 95RON, slightly more on super - mostly B-road commute. Noisy on a motorway thanks to 4000RPM and 40 profile tyres. Fantastic fun to thread down a b-road. I had to have a lower arm & the steering wheel replaced under warranty but that was it. Made a decent noise too for a 1.6 4-pot!

Ride was rock hard but very well damped - didn't get unsettled through bumps much even over properly crap roads. Brakes excellent and resistant to fade. Seats were supportive though the bolsters were starting to wear a little on mine.

Split rear seats are excellent & versatile though does mean you've only got 4 seats. Isofix as standard I think (Mine definitely had it at least!).

Any questions feel free to ask.

Looked at one before getting an Abarth 500.

To me the Twingo feels very budget and the interior is really poor if such things bother you.

Technically better to drive than the tarted up fiat but not as good to own as the A500 looks better, is better equipped, gets better MPG and had a good offer on at the time.

However the Twingo facelift is out at the minute which may make the previous shape more affordable.

If I was making the same decision now I would probably the money and buy a 182 instead. Same basic car as the Twingo but with a better spec and more power. At half the cost for a nice trophy edition.

Just make sure the cambelt & dampers have been done.

I also hear 40MPG is optimistic in the twingo - I get 36-48 in the A500.

Not sure if you've seen the back of them but rather than an individual bench, on the 'Full fat' with A/C etc. the rear seats are 2 individual seats. They slide forwards/backwards independently and can also be folded then tipped against the front seats. The boot with the seats all the way back isn't huge, but sliding the rear seats forward (But keeping them upright) sacrifices a bit of rear legroom for boot space and makes a large boot for the cars size - I'm guessing with a couple of sprogs in the back leg room isn't going to be a major issue, so even if the buggy is a wide one it should fit fine.

They have quite an active owners club too which I'm sure could help point you in the right direction - twingo133.net
