Hi to all newbie here, i'm usually a reader, not a poster but felt compelled to share the following with the masses.

We have two cars in our family. My other half has a Audi A1 sport and mines a V50 R Design. We're policy holders on our cars with each as named drivers respectively. For the last two years we've been with Admiral and there 'discounted' multi car policy. This years premium came in at 720.08 for both vehicles. Both clean licences and no convictions since 1985. My V50 came in at 320 and the Audi 400 pound. I always thought female drivers were cheaper and I'm sure the A1 is a lower insurance group so was surprised to see my wifes quote higher. Anyway I decided to check the quotes and did seperate policy quotes with a well known on line company. My Volvo came in at 250 and the Audi 258 and that was with reducing the VA from 250 to 150. Guess who quoted the figures, yeap Admiral !

I rang them quoting my muti car discount reference asking if 720.08 was their best quote to which they stated yes. I told them that I could get the both vehicles for a good 200 pound less at which point they asked me which company, err Admiral I said which resulted in them asking for the reference number. Their reply, certainly sir, we'll match that !!! 200 quid off just like that.

I don't know whether to hop around cursing the potential rip-off I could have fell for or to celebrate a result ! I suppose the message to you all is check, check and bloody well double check !

Rant over,

Andy

Insurance company in a 'renewal quote more expensive than a new quote' shocker - who'd have thunk!

I was told (in GCSE Business Studies) that winning a new customer is several times more expensive than keeping an existing one - which is why I find it bizarre that insurance renewal quotes are never the company's "best" price.

I've had exactly the same experience today, amazing how they do it! I even had the same question and answer session - which insurer gave you lower quotes, er you did...
