Yesterday i managed to drop a pound coin into the air vent on top of the dashboard of my 06 Focus. It rolled around in there for a couple of corners then all was quiet. Now i'm worried that it might have got deep into the bowels of the car and will cause an imminent implosion, am i right to be worried?

Any tips on how to get it out, or will it be ok to leave it?

It will be sat in the duct that feeds that vent - for the sake of a quid I would leave it be.

Although, don't forget to mention it when selling the car - it could be a deal maker!

Not sure where the pollen filter is on a focus but may be worth removing it to see if it's lurking about by that?

Somewhere in between the pound coin and the pollen filter will be a fan and a condenser unit

Well I bet you a pound that it's not made it's way to the motor as you would be fairly sure to hear it laugh

I had the key to a padlock inside the air vents of my 306 for a good year or 2. Slid from side to side for the first 10 mins then lodged in the flaps for the vents. I couldn't get them all the way on screen but a bit of a wiggle set it free to wherever it stayed. Next issue was opening the padlock...

Quite worried for a while that the whole dash had to be taken out.

Beware.... Car I had a few years back was main dealer serviced.... Sometime later climate starts making funny noises.... Goes to an Indy... transpires that the pollen filters broke up through age, went down the vents and broke the main motor fans of the climate. Looked up service invoices and it turned out that main dealer didn't follow the service schedule as the pollen filters weren't replaced. Cost £400 to put right

poke 5 or 6 ten pound notes in the same vent

it will then be worth the hassle of getting the pound coin out

I'll bet you a pound it hasn't made it to the condenser, because the condenser is usually mounted on the front of the car, in front of the radiator smile

Funny you should say that, my 3 year old posted my wedding ring into that exact place a couple of years back, I still hear it sliding around occasionally when cornering hard!!!!!!!

At least if you're caught short at any tolls you know there's a quid down there somewhere. Cue full dash disassembly in full rush hour... it's down 'ere somewhere guv!!! You just became a cockney, I have no idea why.
