Was sent a link to the website for The Used Car Centre and have checked companies house, seems ok but, the old adage if it seems to good to be true etc..
Any input greatly appreciated. At these prices it would be daft not to!

Am I missing something here? Why are all the cars less than half the price they should be?

don't know why it's re-directing to a completely different site. google theusedcarscenter should be the 1st listing, make sure you search for cars in the UK

googling that url also brings up this :

Title of Scam Website: (Link removed)
Scam Website URL: http://www.car-salesltd.com
Claimed Location: Bolton
Submitted By: Craig D.
Date Submitted: 12-03-2012
Report:
Cars listed are approx 60% less than vehicle true value, claim to be repossed vehicles, insist on payment before vehicle is delivered to you by bank to bank wire transfer, links to the website are occassionally taking you to autotraders website and when you do get through it is always a screen name of Bianca who chats with you in broken english and she cannot or will not answer any questions about the company. The company Car Sales Public which was mentioned in the about the company page is registered with companies house London but cannot find out much more about them than that. 3 days ago the site was www.car-salesltd.com with a different company address but today it is (link removed) with address in Bolton - exact same web page with exact same cars on its pages.
Link : http://www.scamwebsites.co.uk/component/adtestimon...

Mod note: Link removed as it was redirecting like the OP's.

Well done the OP for highlighting it.

This is getting to be a really serious problem. I have seen two of these sites this week alone

I am sure Pistonheads and Autotrader and others are making every effort to weed this out.

Clearly we all need to be vigilante in buying cars on the net.

Thanks for the alert smile

It's a tough job keeping on top of these guys, that's for sure. We have a chap looking at/ for scams full time in the office and he does a great job of stopping most, but some do sneak through from time to time. We also sit on the VSTAG group where large classified site owners share best practice and work with the police in an attempt to stop fraudulent activity.

If you're in any doubt over an ad on PH have a read of our fraud warnings on the classified home page (replicated on the email page too), or call/ mail us instead.

If it looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Contacted the gent with the duplicated ad on ebay, only polite to give him a heads up. But realistically, would the police be able to do anything?

It has been reported to the Met Police who are investigating to see if I can recover my losses. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BE FOOLED!!!!! If there are any others out there that have also been scammed like me then report it to the police imediately and write it on this forum. Paul

Shemale tube for me too. That'll teach me to browse the 'net during my lunch break. Maybe remove the link as people will click it before they get this far?

I also hope you can recover your cash/card/whatever loss.

If you paid by credit cars you will be protected.

Otherwise down to the method of payment and nature of transaction.

I deeply regret this is becoming all too common.

Be very careful with internet payments.

I suggest Paypal and credit cards always because of the protection.

But crooks like this are evil chilling bds.

Easy to be caught and I hope you are compensated in full.
