Hi all,

I was wondering whether anyone had heard anything about over 200 Renault garages closing across the UK in the near future?

The reason I am asking is that my father popped into a local Renault dealer and was told that:
- the production of Twingo's was stopping
- over 200 Renault garages were closing across the UK due to poor sales

In case you are wondering, he isn't after a Twingo but currently drives one and was in getting his serviced when they told him this.

Thanks in advance,

Hoink

Wouldn't be surprised as they've pulled almost half the range from the UK due to poor sales

Sounds like inflated/exaggerated versions of what they announced in December:

55 dealers, not 200 - Renault only had about 190 dealers before they cut back. Twingo has only recently been facelifted and as far as I know, they have no plans to stop selling it in the UK.

I think Renault still have a lot of smaller dealers in their Network. Despite these being the ones that give good service, and servicing a local community it's easy to see these get the axe.

Mind you there is a specialist near here who is an ex-dealer. When we had an Espace (about as Renault as you can get) he turned me away saying he did not do Espace's.

Don't think it was just me as I've never seen one there come to think of it.

Are they still planning to launch their budget Dacia brand in UK? Cars built in Romania.

If so, that would give dealerships something to sell.

Pendragon have shut 1 Renault dealer and rebranded another in my local area, one is directly opposite where Reg Vardy that's Peter Vardy's father started the business many moons ago which is now the rebranded "Quicks" car supermarket which just looks like their way of selling their part exchanges instead of them going to the block and the other has shutdown completely and been boarded up for a very long time. They had lots of dead models that weren't selling and I was told on the grapevine that the once secure income from finance deals on the likes of Clios has took a big hit with many failing initial finance props, something I know all too well from running my own leasing brokerage.

Yes, Dacia coming this year.

Some dealerships are closing.

Twingo is not going (as said above, it's just been facelifted)

Wind, Espace, kangoo (not vans), Modus and Laguna are gone

New Clio coming next year and Scenic has been facelifted this year and Megane recieves a refresh on the range.

Simples.

Actually every variant bar Dynamique 1.2 75bhp has been withdrawn. The Twingo Renaultsport seems to be in state of limbo, still on the price list but vanished from the website.

New Twingo RS coming in April IIRC. Same engine and chassis but with new front end. Also available in liquid yellow.

One in price guide currently is old shape run out model.
