07 Focus 1.8 petrol

Ever since i bought the car 1 and a half years ago its had a relatively notchy change unless you are changing super fast.
Recently however it seems to have sorted its self and flicks between ratios much less seemly.
Have i broken it? should i be worried?
Personally its much better and rewarding as is. Lets hope it doesnt change back (unless its a fault, in which case i hope it changes back biggrin )
Cheers smile

No, i havnt had the clutch changed smile
And i havnt checked the oil in a few weeks. Would a low oil level lead to a smoother change? Its never burnt oil since i bought it. But i will check when im dressed up.

I think the 2007 model was the introduction of the SDAR models (Self Diagnostics And Repair).

Quite a clever feature that does what it says on the tin. Sounds like yours is working perfectly.

Engine oil level won't affect the gearbox shift, but gearbox oil level might!

IME, when something seems to suddenly get much better its a clue that it's about to fail catastrophically. hehe

Are you sure it's not just that with the weather getting warmer the gearbox oil is warmer first thing in the morning giving smoother changes?

It used to be non-smooth throughout the drive. Now its smooth throughout the drive.
It was never uncomfortably unsmooth, just could be a bit awkward (think im trying to convince myself its not about to go pop biggrin )

Are you sure it's your car? My Dad got in and started the wrong car once - Ford keys are notorious for allowing this. smile
