Interesting 4 seater Coupe - 50MPG - 15k
Discussion
So, Mrs A is thinking of changing her car and quite fancies a 120D/123D coupe. We've had a look at a few but struggling to find that perfect one with the right spec (leather, M-Sport) in the right colour (Black/Graphite grey/white) etc. We're not in a rush so will continue looking, but I've started thinking of alternatives.
- Scirocco TDI - she loves them but the right one's are around 20k
- TT TDI - see above
- Brera 2.4 JTDM - loves them, but I don't think they'll drive as well as the German cars. Shame because they are cheap in comparison and arguably look a lot nicer. 'Only' 40MPG too.
635d?

Did I read that right? You are struggling to find a diesel BMW, with leather and "M-sport badge" pack, in Black/Graphite grey/white?
I thought that was the only spec you could get a BMW in these days
TBH, I would probably hold out for one of those. I think the 1 coupe looks really nice, and can't think of anything else that fits the criteria better. Maybe a 320d coupe would be easier to find...
Only other thing I can think off is the Honda CR-Z - interesting, but not sure if it will do a realistic 50 mpg.
Or, how about a Volvo C70 folding hard top cabrio - they look really smart, and can be had with a pretty good 5 pot diesel.

I already have an E92. We can't have matching cars, and a '6' would be too big for her.phil1979 said:

Not sure if the link will work but there are 72 in the colour, and spec you mention in the OP at BMW dealers in the UK. It can't be that hard to find one.

Seriously! The exact spec she demands is:123D (or will make do with a 120D)
Heated black or red leather
Black or dark grey
No plaswood interior trim
<40k miles
Bluetooth
I quite like the C70 but I think they are usually driven by an older generation...

Only 13 1 series diesel coupes in the UK, up to 15k, in black or grey.http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/bmwauc/results/0,,1156_...
I'm happy to hold on for the right one, just interested in what alternatives there were out there.

She'll be disappointed if she goes from a GT to a Brera. I've just gone from a GT to a plusher 159 ti, and I know which I'd rather have....
Interesting. Where does the 159 fall short?Crusoe said:

Volvo C30? Not bad to drive (Focus platform), usually well-specced and quite rare. Only 4 seats (as in definitely not 5) and a small boot though.
Good shout. More of a 'sport hatch' than a coupe I feel, but still nice looking. I'll point them out to her.phil1979 said:
My hand was forced due to a new baby. The GT was so much lighter on it's feet. Put simply, it was fun to drive. The 159, albeit the estate, is just so dull, and feels ball-achingly slow in comparison. The diesel in the GT just seemed more refined, too. The 159 is much more relaxing, but dull. I think the Brera has the same platform/underpinnings as the 159.
That's a shame. I'll see if she fancies looking at a few this weekend and hopefully get a test drive.closest I can find, think it is only 150 or so to switch the trim bits over from the wood to black or metal
