right so it's not the worlds biggest dilemma, but it's slowly droving me mental all the same!

new (to me) car (bmw Z4M coupe) has an annoying squeak in the cabin somewhere. sat in the drivers seat it's somewhere behind the passenger seat & appears to be high up, sort of head or shoulder height. it's happening under torsional load as it even happens when reversing off the drive, going in a staright line it doesn't do it.

slightly more suspicious is that the car WAS NOT doing it on the test drive confused (there is no way you could miss it) though there was a problem with the boot lock release so perhaps they tried to have a go at fixing this and haven't put something back correctly?

before you suggest it, the two obvious answers were that it was the seat back rubbing (it isn't) or that it was something on the rear passenger side suspension (all checked over & it isn't) so that leaves me with a couple of possiblilities.

1/ it could be the roof panel itself (perhaps not spot welded at the factory?)

2/ it could be something to do with the rear hatch (it's bloody huge & heavy)

3/ it's some piece of interior panel around the bulkhead between the seats & boot.
(someones been in there in the past as some of the screwheads have been disturbed)

all of the above sound plausable for the above reasons but the first thing i intend to do is start greasing up anything that may look like it could be causing it.

does anyone know of a good silicone grease that can be used for this?

anyone have any other good ideas to start with?
