Hi Guys, i have a Fiesta ST and basically its a great car with imo great handling.

But im starting to get into track days and would like more power on the straights plus a nicer sound is always good for enjoyment!

What do people think about the Mountune 185 kit, is it worth the money? (2000) or should i just save my money and wait for something else!

A lot of money for not much extra power. Sell Fiesta, buy EP3 Civic Type R, job done.

Personally i think it's good value for money if it's at the Mountune HQ as 'PRO' dealers charge almost 2000 for the 165 kit. I think for the money you won't get more power from the fez, the only downside to the kit is the lack of power lower in the revs, you really need to hold it above 4k, some prefer the 165 for town driving for this reason, i personally love the kit every minute since having it fitted in Oct.

If you want more power from a Fiesta, and don't need to protect your warranty there are many other proven routes to finding it that cost less money.

Save the money. When you sell the fiesta put the money towards a better car i.e. Focus ST,Corsa VXR, E46 M3 etc depending on what your budget/insurance,etc allows.

No point tuning an N/A car like the Fiesta ST very little gain per .

I wouldn't switch between a Fiesta ST and Civic Type R as there is not enough of a noticable difference between the two IMO, i found this when test driving various cars before switching from my Fiesta ST to a Focus ST Mountune.

ETA the Mountune kit has been tried and tested to produce the best power i believe there was an article comparing all of the kits from various tuners.

Search or ask on FiestaSTOC.com if you do decide to go down this route.

I understand the whole Type R route i love the idea of these cars and my friend has an Integra Type R DC5 - absolute dream.

But the insurance for me just seems way too much exceeding 2500 - i can insure the mountune 185 fiesta for almost 1200 cheaper (Green Light).

I've looked at the Clio 182 route but the interior really is backwards and going to an older car never seems like a step in the right direction although apparently a fantastic drive.

The pro's about the 185 kit is i have the Fiesta already - i like the fiesta looks i can live with the interior on a day to day basis.

But 2000 still stinks of a lot of money.

Being a member of the fieststoc i have to say Pumaspeed are known to struggle to match there quoted figures on various rolling road days, Temple get yourself on the forum an im sure someone local to you would take you for a drive, where are you based?

I'll echo what others have said. Save your money as the conversion isn't worth the outlay. Put the money aside for a deposit on a new Fiesta ST.

Based in Birmingham (i've heard bad things from pumabuild not sure if this is just rubbish though) - a test drive would be good but i'd feel a little cheeky Lol.

No Problem - the only big issue i have with the focus ST is i dont think its fun to drive - i test drove a Mountune version at a dealership a while ago (just for interest sake) while it felt quick it also felt a heavy car. I did only have a short drive so maybe i was quick to judge.

I like the agility of the Fiesta and i've never been into Turbo cars in a big way - i'd rather have an Elise to say an evo etc.

I feel im just talking my self into the Mountune and not so sure i'd be satisfied - I guess i should sign up to the forums and see.

2k plus your Fiesta will get you into a Clio Trophy I'd imagine. Go have a drive, you will not be disappointed. I regret selling mine when I really want to just 'drive'

A decent one costs 7k! my Fiesta is a 55 Facelift atm i'd be lucky to get 4k :/.

I cannot afford a brand new car yet - looking to move out and if i could i would almost certainly be in a Clio cup 200 right now.

This one will be a good one, Steve only sells the best examples. This has had all the major servicing and the all important damper refurb

My current steed is a 200 which I moved to from a Trophy, and the Trophy is a better 'drivers car' when on a hoon smile

OP, I think your quite right. You can't compare a little fiesta to a nose heavy focus.

Personally if you were happy the fiesta, I would stick to that, but also look at things that enhance the experience rather than just outright speed.
Is the suspension standard?? Certainly a good quality shock and geo setup would bring as much fun to the party as another few horse power, whilst allowing you to (if your a good enough driver), carry more speed onto the straight.

Ive never driven a fiesta but by all accounts it is a tidy little car, I wouldn't change the car for the sake of A few more BHP, as you will get the associated higher running costs, and potential of buying a unknown quantity (the new car).

If the car is standard i would personally look at uprated suspension, a good geo setup, and an air filter (if you require a little more noise to add to the drama) and a CG lock (I think that's the right thing).

The car would be much more fun than a standard car with more power, and would probably be quicker round the track in the right hands.

Cheers for the reply!

Yeah i recently brought springs and i already have the mountune induction kit which made one hell of a difference (if you see the standard ST set up you will see its extremely restrictive), i'm yet to fit the springs as i wanted to bushes at the same time! Its a cracking handling car standard imo plenty of fun but i must fiddle! Im not sure if you can get camber adjusted arms for the fiesta though? havent looked too much into it.

I saw a used 300bhp supercharger fiesta conversion on ebay for similar to your budget. Not sure it would be a good drive but thats another story!

Fit the springs, and ask on some fiesta websites about geometry settings. I'd be supprised if you couldn't change a few little things.
Brakes would be the only other point of modification.
