As the title says a 'hater' keyed the entire side of my BMW. The stealer wants around 2k, an Indy 1k and I have a mobile guy coming out later for a quote.

Would like some thoughts on using these mobile guys and what the quality of finish is.

Thanks.

Hmm, I'd be tempted to try a "static" smart repair place with a proper paintshop, what sort of paint finish is it and how deep are the scratches? Sorry to hear that BTW!

Hater? What a stupid bloody Americanism.

As for the vandalism, bad luck. This crap really makes my blood boil!

+1 and the reason it costs me £100/month to park my car safely!

My BMW was keyed last year in a car park. Local mobile guy did his magic for around £150 IIRC and you cannot tell at all where the scratches were.

Depends on the depth of the scratch. if its like the scratches done on the roof of my 335 smart repair will not remove them and they will need respray. see pic

if its a pride and joy you plan to keep a while then i would seek out a quality bodyshop , if its just a car that you will sell on soon then try the driveway paint job

If it happened where you live I'd go for the cheapest possible fix. It's not unknown for the scrote to do it again.

If it happened miles away in a one-off parking place I'd go straight for a professional repair.

Mmm. Is there someone whom you might have pissed off? You didn't tell off a scrote for throwing a Coke can in your garden, for instance?

If you feel there is a chance this will happen again then invest in a waterproof car cover with a lockable strap. It will hide what car it is and discourage the random act. If someone has a problem with you or your car imparticular it probably won't help much though. I use covers on both my non-everyday cars and the cover fits in the boot when you are not using it, so whenever you are parked up in an area you are not happy about out comes the cover. Takes a couple of minutes to fit.

frown Shame to hear this. This seems to be more common with multiple similar posts in recent weeks.

Not sure what a "hater" is but I have had pretty much every car I have owned scratched, dinged or damaged in some way by a third party. It used to annoy the hell out of me but now I just accept it as part and parcel of living in London, get it fixed and move on otherwise it will sour your ownership experience and you'll end up miserable.

Lockable car covers? Tell me more.

I was wondering where it was that these scratching incidents happen.

Yes unfortunately one of the disadvantages of living in the big city, if it's not vandalism it's car park scrapes, dings etc. How hard can it be to be a litte careful when opening a car door in a car park, a car is a hard thing to miss after all as it's pretty big. Unfortunately it seems 80% if people who live in London are complete mongs or vandalising scrotes who have zero respect for other peoples property.

Therefore much as I have enjoyed living in London, my next house move will be outside the M25 and the house will HAVE to have a decent sized garage. Never mind a big kitchen\bedroom\bathroom which the missus is after, a garage will be my one and only criteria when looking for a new house.
