Morning all - just about hehe

I'm a second-year Automotive Engineering student who can only ever have been described as passionate for racing, so I've been looking for some more targeted reading than the usual Top Gear, evo, Autocar and so on. By the look of it, Racecar Engineering seems to be a pretty good publication for the likes of me, and I can get a 12-month subscription here for £42. Seems a good deal.

So do any of you guys subscribe/read, how do you find it, what sort of content do they have and is it worth going for?

Thanks in advance smile

You can browse back issues here and make your own mind up about the content and value.

Personally, I think it's got some good and interesting articles, but too much ardvertising and not enough content for the price (though I accept that with such a specialist title with limited circulation, the economics are difficult).

Thanks for that, and the link - very helpful, I've had a leaf through one now. The content seems good, without many wasted articles, and there is a lot more advertising than I'm used to but equally no great big classifieds section at the back either.

I might go and pick up a copy (will I find it on shelves?) and see, unless anyone has any similar publications I should look at?

I've had a sub for about 6 months now and absolutely love it.

The mix for me (a physics grad with a bit of a boner for all things motorsport) between technical analysis and interesting interviews is just right.

There are quite a lot of ads, but at least they're targeted towards the racing community - even they're worth a read to a keen enthusiast. smile

I would describe myself as an enthusiast and I'm interested in the technical side of things.

Probably half the stuff on there is, err, easily comprehensible for enthusiasts or not a science undergrad let alone work in the industry!

Cheers guys. When I was looking at that back issue, I did think the adverts would be worth looking at for the first few issues!

I was surprised to find it seemed more news-biased rather than concentrating on technical stuff, but certainly seemed good. I think I'll keep my eyes peeled and see if I can pick up this month's copy to have a look at.

Picked up a copy ages ago. Good read, very interesting for me (average petrol head, no engineering etc qualifications). But it did leave me slightly confused about certain things, though this just made me seek out the knowledge to understand.

Didnt buy it again, but thats not to say I wouldnt!
