Experienced acceleration fast enough to pin you back in your seat, I've seen this in plenty of films but have never been in a car fast enough, if you have, what car, what gear (the car not what you were wearing) and how did it feel?

cheers R

His 928 S4, 400bhp V8 Ford P100 pickup, Treser Quattro

FIL driving:
F355

Me driving:
FQ360 (Evo 9)
And in exactly the right gear my 335d has a bit of in the back shove.
Oh and a really quick go kart I once drove!

535D, pinned me to the back of the back seat, of the car behind.

997 Turbo was fairly brisk but its bikes that do press you into the seat very well, it is just there is no seat to be prerssed into so its just, press you into falling off the back so it ceases to be fun and is terrifying.

Years ago a friend let me have a go in his Astra GTE....being much taller and me being too eager to adjust the seat I got in, stamped on the loud pedal which pinned me to the seat then subsequently threw forward. Not my finest moment.

Don't know about pin back in the seat, but I recall a 'right foot down, dump clutch' launch of a Fiat 20V Turbo feeling like my lungs and heart remained on the launch line hehe

A Caterham will do this off the line, but the most vicious I've driven was the Atom 300. That really did pin you back, rather than simply pushing you, in first, second and still third. To be fair, engaging fourth or fifth still slams you back!

Palmersport's single-seater doesn't hang about either, tails off a bit above 100mph but in second, 250bhp of Jag V6 makes it well capable of giving you a push back into the bucket.

Perhaps equally impressive in a different way is what happens when you open up a V12 Vantage at 4000rpm in third. Huge volume increase, head slammed back, speedo makes like a rev counter biggrin

An emergency start in a Westfield Hayabusa was enough to have me grinning like a loon.

The closet I've come is a Lambo LP550-2.

Not sure I would say 'pinned', but it certainly pushed me back and I couldn't keep my neck from moving (but I am a weedy little chap)

My mates 996 Turbo with the x50 pack - it can absolutely pin you to the seat from a standing start ... just violent acceleration! smile

997 Turbo. It has the grip to get that power down onto the road.
