A friend has an '06 Fiat Grand Punto with intermittent EPAS steering failure, symptoms are warning light and heavy steering which corrects itself when the ignition is switched off then on again. He needs to sell the car as he's moving abroad, does anyone have any more info on this fault, and can anyone recommend an auto electrician in Berkshire or South Bucks with experience of these systems? Thanks.

Bumpety bump (ouch)

I need a recommendation for an auto electrician in the south bucks or north berks area, preferably someone who knows about Fiat EPAS. I can see cartronics in Maidenhead, Solo Italia north of Oxford, but nobody specializing in Fiat electrics in my neck of the woods.

Any ideas?

Have you had the fault codes read?

If you want to have a stab in the dark, replace the relay and/or fuse, should only be a couple of quid. chances are that if it's not that it'll be expensive anyway.

Thanks Dave, I think he has the choice between going to Fiat (many hundreds of pounds) or finding a trustworthy auto electrician. He know nothing about cars, and will have to sell the car in the next month or two to relocate abroad, so I'm trying to find someone not too far away who won't rip him off.

Fiat Grand Punto EPAS systems (refurbished) seem to range from £42 to £240 but he csn't fit it himself, so an indy at reasonable rates with some experience of Fiats (in the vicinity of Maidenhead) would be useful.
