...I bought a used car privately!

Okay, so I'm sure that's how most people buy their cars, but I've only ever bought from dealers (and paid via the nasal cavity at times) so it was a bit exciting to do it this way. No safety net, no warranty, no comeback if it's a lemon... I could feel my man points going through the roof with every haggle.

Really good bloke to deal with too, petrolhead of the highest order and happy to chat at length. Pointed out all the bad points of the car of which there were very few, chucked me the keys and let me take it for a spin by myself, no bullsh*t basically. Having heard the horror stories on here of dealing with idiots it was a pleasant surprise to come across a decent chap.

Oh, and the car in question? A mk1 MX-5. biggrin

laugh You leave my Beetle alone! Besides, I need a car that won't break down every 5 mins.

Pics soon, I pick her up on Sunday so hoping for a dry day with a bit of luck

If I did anything like that, I'd be strapping a set of ITBs to it. Just wanted something dirt cheap for track days in the summer really, don't fancy risking the Porker on track and hiring Cats all the time is costing me a fortune.
