E36 M3 Evo, 8L Audi S3 or something else?
Discussion
I ran a S3 8L for about a year, it was Revo mapped to approx 260bhp. It was a good competent car but I found it got dull fairly quickly, it felt very heavy for a small car and it didn't feel that quick, also the wife hated the stiff suspension.
I'm now driving a 95 E36 328i which I bought for peanuts off an old guy where I work, its a great car, fast and comfortable and feels a lot more raw to drive. I can only imagine that the M3 must be a measure better and I'll be looking at them myself at some point.

6k is just the territory to get an S4 with k04 conversion, then no turbo worries!
It would also get you a very good facelift model with low miles, you wouldn't need to be remotely worried about turbos until its on at least 130k, and even then it should be fine for years more asking as its had regular oil changes etc.
Don't be put off by turbos going pop! The RS4 I've recently bought has done 120k and I'm not bothered by that at all
