I have had a bit of a google about but can't seem to find out if I am best to buy a tank of diesel in France at a supermarket or here at Tesco's when I am dragged to eurodisney at the weekend.

Can anyone tell me which is roughly cheapest?

Thanks!

I remember the days when it was far cheaper in France. Sigh.

If it hasn't changed recently, then you at least will be pleased to know that diesel is cheaper than petrol in France.

Head almost due east from Dunkrik and hit Belgium after 15 miles or so. Find a station off the main routes and it will be way cheaper.

We came to the UK last month when diesel was around 140p. We filled in Belgium en-route for 134c (so about 110p). If my sums are correct, that is a £24 saving for 80 litres.

We go there a few times a year and we find that it is always a bit cheaper for us, however it is getting more expensive there now.

Ah, fair enough. I only look at petrol in fairness.

Diesel as a rule is cheaper on the continent - petrol not much in it.

Belgium LPG prices are silly cheap.

Stay off the autoroutes and cheaper still - just like you wouldn't buy petrol on the M1 unless you really had to.

What you will save on one tank of fuel will pale into comparison when you think what Mickey Mouse and his rapacious chums will do to your wallet. Fill up wherever you want, it will make no difference to the state of your finances come Monday.

P.S. I'm also not sure a 40 minute motorway excursion into Belgium to save a couple of quid makes any sense at all

Ooh rapacious I have learnt a new word. I expect to be bent over several times by the nasty mouse and his chums, and thanks everyone for the input.

+1

I just checked the fuel prices at Carrefour supermarket Calais
and they were, much to my surprise, months out of date, for
their English website.
