Help with a Chevy Tahoe 5.7 V8...

Ok, my brother has a 5.7 V8 Chevy Tahoe, (1998 I believe);
And he is having issues when under throttle. Of you gently put your foot on the throttle, and feather it in then it will rev quite happily, however, when you boot it, it bogs down, revs, then bogs down, revs, then bogs down. He spoke to a mechanic friend he knows in another country who worked on these for GM, and he suggested cleaning the AFM with contact cleaner, which we did today, and it improved a tad. However it is still doing it. Anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be?
