Hi , I currently have my Lamborghini posted on piston heads and have a offer from this guy Ray .

His web. Site is http://www.sportsleisurevehicles.com.au/ and sound a nice guy on the phone .

He is suggesting he pays electronically before I release the car . All sounds good but I heard there was a scam where they could recall the cash from your account after the transaction ?

Any info greatly appreciated

I received an electronic transfer when I sold my Maserati to a company in Australia (I was also nervous, but checked with my bank rather than Pistonheads!). I'd give your bank a call if I were you.

Sounds like all the risk is on his part. Apparently high end cars are a lot cheaper in the uk....a friend sold his 4200gt to Australia last year.

All cars are cheaper in the UK, friend who recently moved from the US and used to driving a nice, new car car (Audi etc) has been shocked by just how much a car costs down under,

It's the Paypal scam where they reverse the funds.

They pay through Paypal, you give them the car and then they dispute the sale saying they never received the goods and Paypal reverses the transaction.

Like others have said check with your bank, they'll be able to tell you if the electronic funds transfer is legit or not.

Seems quite reasonable to me that someone from another country wants to buy something as exotic as a Lambo.

Don`t confuse Paypal with an electronic bank transfer, they are not the same thing.

I'm not doing? I was just telling the OP what the Paypal scam was as he mentioned he was worried about his funds being reversed.

It's amazing how in the English language one single letter can make a whole sentance mean 2 different things. I've edited my post to make it more clear.

That`s great, where did the OP say Paypal was involved in his proposed transaction?

Can't you read? the guy is not saying the OP's current situation is a PayPal scam, he's saying that the scam the OP referred to about reversing funds is a PayPal scam.

Surely the moments the funds clear, you bounce them into another account and then release the car?

I'm gonna say it even though I'll get slated but hey ho....

OP......You can afford a Lambo ...cool ...but you can't figure out that using an Electronic Bank transfer as a way receiving funds has little or no risk...and you figure I'll ask PH rather than my bank.

Not true, all credit card payments, and I'd imagine some other payment methods, are subject to reversals in the exact same way.

The only scam that works with this, he/she have your email and also bank account details to make the payment, they send a fake email saying the funds have gone through with the correct account number and bank details and name. Then they personally ask you to release the car to an agent who is going to collect it.

It will have the correct logo and ask you to confirm details for such a large amount.

Call the dealership from the number on their website.

They are a legitimate car dealership who advertise in a number of magazines etc.

If it was an individual they wouldn't be able to import it. I believe the dealership has the appropriate approvals to do so.

How would that stop the original account going hugely overdrawn if the funds were electronically reveresed?

I was told by Natwest that you have to leave the funds in the account for 24hours on a working day, then check the balance is still there. After this time it is not possible (allegedly) to reverse it. This was a few years ago now.

How come innocuous, sensible threads degenerate so quickly into name-calling and pettiness on PistonHeads?

Someone always comes along and claims to have 100% perfect ultimate knowledge don't they. It's quite something, isn't it?
