Test drive and decide for yourself. It will depend on your driving style and what priorities you have. It's not a particularly fast car but it's more than capable in a straight line if you stick roughly to the speed limits. In the corners it's another matter so make sure your test drive lets you drive around some of your favourite twisty roads if possible.

I really can't understand people who assume engine size defines power.
Indeed i know about Power to weight - im no fool when it comes to cars. But theres a certain umph a smaller engined car cant produce with out being worked for obvious reasons so i reflection i dont think it was a silly question to ask..

Indeed as the figures indicate it's not blistering but it does how ever look extremely good fun i've always been a fan of Lotus and all they've done to help the british motor industry - and these days it doesn't seem like a huge sacrifice for comfort + 45mpg i could even use it for daily trips! Just wanting to get peoples opinions etc!Or even any rival cars
As I am sure you know, the Elise is all about the handling, so go in with that in mind and you won't be dissapointed.
That said, the Elise is generally a much lighter car than average, so the smaller engine need not make much difference. It all depends on what you want the car for, and what you expect of it - both of which only you will know.
I would suggest having a drive and seeing if you like the car, engine, power, and delivery.
To dismiss it on lack of power would be a shame, and somewhat missing the point!
