Hello all,

Quick question on behalf of my dad, who has a Series 1 Jag E-type and a newly acquired 2 post (4 contact pad) hydraulic lift.

Anyone with any knowledge as to the best lifting points on the underside of the car? The owners manual is not a lot of help.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have no idea but know a man who does. My old man has a mkI also so should be able to offer some advice. I'll report back when I've had a chance to ask him.

OK, here is his response, word for word.

There are 4 jacking point in the usual places but I would advise against using them. Best advice for a mkI setup would be to try and use the wishbone. Other than that use a drive on. If jacked on body rear suspension can end up falling from the car if mounted bushes have debonded. Nor advisable.

If you have any specific questions I can go back to him. He's replaced the front and rear running gear on his and other so knows his stuff.

That would be pretty much the advice for any old car with not recently replaced sills - the jacking points are dicey even for changing a wheel, let alone supporting the whole car.

Thanks for the advice. Will pass this on to my Dad and return with any specific questions.
