Hi guys,

I have a couple of options on the table at the moment, and I have quite strict car requirements for the next couple of years- are there any other options than what I'm about to suggest?

I live abroad, and the Insurer I use is very strict with the max-insurance group I can Insure until I'm 30.

I'll be coming back to the UK and driving the car back, RHD is not an issue - actually preferred.

Have already looked at new cars via CC scheme, leasing, and not interested in the depreciation or long term commitment - I would rather buy the car cash.

Requirements list:

- 10k~
- Less than 60k miles
- Less than 7 years old
- More than 30 mpg avr
- Less than Insurance group 17 (Could go 17 or 18 but specialist insurance is quite expensive)
- A drivers car, with some space, as I'll be lugging stuff around (no estates please...)

I have so far come up with:-

BMW e92 320d/320i 2007~
BMW e92 Coupe 320i or 325i 2007~
Audi 2.0T A3 or A4 Sline 2007~

The BMW 320d 177 bhp model is available, Superchips offer a 210-220 bhp state of tune - and still 50 mpg average (book says 58, but I don't believe that).

Saw a very nice 330i Coupe e92 for 10k, with 65k miles - not sure I believe the 38 mpg average with 272 bhp though. Having spent some time in the new Z4 35si and getting 14 mpg average (Ok, I wasn't hanging around), I don't fully believe the MPG figures of the larger engines, as no doubt you will use the power a lot more.

Looks like it might have to be a 320d Coupe (177 bhp). Although I've yet to drive an Audi diesel, or even be in one.

Would an Audi A5 come into budget?

I thought that, but having looked, the cheapest ones are around 12.5k, high miles.
