Ever bought a car then wished you hadnt?

Had always wanted a Golf and many moons ago bought myself a Mk3. Heavy, underpowered lump of sh*te that constantly broke down, rusted and needed things doing to it.
Final straw was a power steering pump failure after a week driving round the Scottish Highland back roads. Never again (Highlands or Golf).

In December 2009 I (a BMW fanboy) bought a 318Ci Sport coupe (2004). I spent 2 years throwing money at the most unreliable lemon I've ever owned. It wasn't 'right' from the day I got it and was riddled with faults the day I parted with it. I spent £8.5k on the car, spent c.£3k on it and traded it in at £4.5k.
Bitter? Me? Just a bit.

I bought a Megane R26 and ended up wishing i hadn't bought it.
The main reason i sold it was because it was black, after a few months of trying to keep it clean it got the better of me, couldn't handle seeing all the light scratches and stone chips standing out like a sore thumb every time i washed it!
Shame really as i loved the car itself.

alfa 156 sportwagon.
massively unreliable, not that fast (2.0 Tspark), badly made, nothing special to drive, feels cheap.
nice car to look at and the seats are nice, but the endless list of issues has pretty much blinded me to whatever it was i liked about it in the first place.
out of the 3 or so months ive owned it, its been on the road less than 1 month, and the amount its cost me to repair the b
d thing I could have got a car i actually wanted in the first place.

I was also desperate to have another rag-top and my dad persuaded me into looking at them. Ended up buying a lemon. When it was working it rattled and understeered and had a rather bouncy ride. When it didnt work it was usualy down to over heating. Even if the traffic lights where on red for a fair amount of time it would overheat. I learnt to drive around it and find routes that would keep me out of trouble. Then the weather got warm and a realised the heater would do nothing but blow hot air. Even with the roof down at speed it was an uncomfortable place to be. There were other niggles as well and it broke down 3 days after I collected it. The supplying dealer was giving me some right ear full on the phone when I rang him to come collect and repair it. I wanted out so much I sold it at a huge loss.
Nothing was right with the situation from start to end but every other car I've bought I've been happy with.

Bought a brand new Fiat 500 in 2009 using the scrappage scheme. Instantly regretted it - crap suspension, slow and the fuel economy wasn't even that good.
Sold it 6 weeks later and made some money on it though, so it wasn't all bad.
Worst thing is, I scrapped a Phase 1 205 Gti 1.9 for it.
It was on it's last legs but I still feel guilty about it to this day...

It was on it's last legs but I still feel guilty about it to this day... I've had my Puma now for about 6 weeks and I'm still not sure it was a wise buy. Most of the time it's ok, but it's a bit of a pain getting both the kids in it.
It's also pretty gutless unless you're over 4k rpm, which I rarely am - mainly due to mechanical sympathy on generally quite short journeys, or in town driving. It's fine on a hoon, but these days time for hooning is in short supply.
I am enjoying the relative fuel economy and the low parts prices though!
