Diesel mixed with petrol?
Discussion
Used some petrol from a drained motorbike tank that I decanted into a jerry can, usually used for diesel, used said petrol in lawnmower and it wouldn't start, turns out there was a bit of diesel in the jerry can, it seemed to have made a black sludge in the bottom :S
Anywho, I needed the jerry can to get some petrol for the Caterham, (felt guilty filling the jerry can at the petrol station with bizarre pre-apocalyptic paranoid stares from other motorists).
I washed out the jerry can with a swig of petrol, followed by a few fillings of water, making sure that any gunk was out. I then allowed it to dry, before giving another few swills out with some petrol before filling.
Am I going to blow up the Caterham in a colossal fireball if I use this petrol? I'm pretty certain it's OK, but just wanted to ask for opinions, I usually use some hoisery as a filter when pouring from jerry cans into a funnel.

NoI wouldn't have bothered with the water though. Petrol and Diesel are infinitely soluble in each other so rinsing with petrol will remove any residual diesel.
Water is soluble in neither so unless it dried fully you could have slight traces of water contamination. This isn't going to cause an explosion though.
