Muffler fluff!
Discussion
Hey all,
My GT-Four was happily driving to Dundee the other day with no problems. But when I was reverse parking I looked in the mirror to see what looked like a dead animal hanging out of my exhaust.
On closer inspection, it appears all of the fluff has come out of my exhaust and the car now sounds like a complete boy racer-mobile!
I assume this is cheap and easy enough to replace the fluff from a muffler? :|

I know its Japspeed, but their exhausts are actually decent.

This sounds really thick...but can't a garage just repack the fluff? :
It's possible, but would involve cutting the silencer open, repacking it and re-welding it. If it's a really expensive nice looking stainless or titanium system then it might be worth the cost. If it isn't, then it's going to be so much cheaper, quicker and easier to just replace it.300bhp/ton said:

This man is talking sense.Greg_D said:
do you REALLY need people from the internet to tell you that it needs replacing???
Do you REALLY need to be an argumentative arse? :PAll I REALLY wanted was some advice on whether I REALLY had to replace the whole section of exhaust or whether I could REALLY get away with just restuffing the muffler.
So thanks for the sensible and non condescending replies to those that gave them. I'll have a look into the cost of a new exhaust section. It's got the stock GT-Four exhaust that came out of the factory (I think) so it probably is pretty expensive to get a new one but since the car is for sale I'd rather have it all in good working order before anyone comes to see it

Has the stuff come out of the tail pipe, or from the casing of the silencer?
If it's from the tailpipe then that suggests the internals of the silencer are corroded, so non-repairable.
It came out of the tailpipe, like a big long fluffy rat tail hanging out of it while I was driving down the dual carriageway (must have looked ridiculous)If it's from the tailpipe then that suggests the internals of the silencer are corroded, so non-repairable.

And I meant physically fell off rather than just cracked like my old one did :P Was driving along and just heard a *CLANG*, got out and there was my exhaust, half way down the hill...good old Peugeot 107s :P

You probably have two main options, get one from an exhaust place like Kwick Fit or Budget etc or get a stainless one either made for you or bought from Halfords/Demon Tweeks etc or online and fitted by you or a garage.

ks sake, don't try and pull it out of the exhaust with your bare hands.
