Why should he not have a nice car at 19?

It's unusual, but one of my (extremely bright) friends dropped out of university, set up his own company, and he had several brand new sportscars before he was 20. A Ferrari before he was 25.

Some people find ways to make money.

Others don't give a st. And others seem to be incredibly bitter or cynical about it all.

Why does it even matter who owns the car? It's an enthusiasts forum - look at the pretty pictures and say "aaah".

That said, it does piss me off that people proudly SHOUT OUT THEIR AGES when they have expensive cars - if that's you, you're like a bloody senile elderly person (I'm 82, you know!).

Who cares. It doesn't matter. Get over yourselves!

Same here mate, sat in my car at the station waiting for my train to the big smoke.

Still can't believe how much interest negus has generated on here. If he is a troll he's had one he'll of a run at it. smile

I find it more amusing that the gent above feels we need to get over ourselves for posting...
I have only pointed out in the other thread all the posts he has tripped himself up. On the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter what he gets, to me. The manner in which he has went about it is what is causing so many posts.

IBTL!

Starting a thread to show that you were involved in another thread is a bit, well, sad.

Sorry I worded that badly, the get over yourself comments wasn't at you lot.

The bottom paragraph was aimed at people who have nice cars, and insist on popping up to tell everybody how young they are. They're the ones who need to get over themselves.

Show us the cars - yes - but who gives a st how old they are!

It is intriguing.
I like reading success stories so it is great when people like gulzar come along and has a fleet of supercars at ~30. Although I do agree, it is most important that they share the cars (flemke) rather than tell us how they can pay for them.

A lot of the time it just strikes me as willy waving. Nobody ever turns up and says "Hi, I'm Mike, this is my new BMW M3 and I'm 48 years old" - I can't see any other reason for saying this is my £40k car and I'm 19 other than for a 'look at how well I'm doing' reaction.

Granted, when you find out that people have managed to get interesting cars when they're young, fair enough, you probably want to know more, but I don't see any reason for them providing their age from the start.

I can't say I really see any difference in somebody buying a nice car at 20 as somebody buying one at 40. It's just that most people have different priorities, and while a few choose to work straight from school, a lot will be spending their money on education still.

Take away the cost of living, the cost of University degree fees, the cost of going out all the time, and replace it with a life at home and a lot more people would be driving round in expensive cars for a couple of years when they're younger, before trading in for a house deposit.

My student loan alone came to about £18k, and that was without a full time job... Add a full time job instead of Uni, take away the bills, and think of the amount of finance you could get with a relatively low paying job.

Obviously Gulzar is something else. I'm not quite sure what, but he's definitely.. well.. Gulzar!!

I also find it weird that people state how old they are, but maybe they do as they are also asking where to get a cheap(er) insurance quote.

I know for the majority it would be easier just to look at normal sites/brokers, but as they have not and prefer to ask a bunch of strangers then that info is important.

Just a thought. smile

Yeah the insurance questions make sense, especially with specialist sports cars, as there are many tiny brokers that do great deals.

I was thinking more of the threads with car and age in the titles, probably in Readers Cars or some such.

So if I start a thread in Readers Rides with this title, then it wouldn't impress you? hehe

Would it not be far more sensible to just have a chuckle at the silliness of it all though rather than 15 pages of posts demanding 'custard tests' etc?

I really do fail to see why some posters get so worked up over it. We all know young guys tend to like to show off and strut around like peacocks and I'm sure a few of us were exactly the same.

Rise above it guys because in quite a few cases posters are making themselves look more childish than the OP's IMHO.
