I considered buying a warranty for my car by using after market websites only to find the quotes obtained were significantly more expensive than my dealer's quote. Bought a 2005 Bentley Arnage from a dealer in April 2011 who applied a 12 month Bentley warranty as part of the deal. The warranty was extensive and covered virtually everything without an excess and without a claim limit. I had need to make two claims in 12 months, neither above £1000 and both claims handled by the dealer, I didn't have to lift a finger in the process but when it came to renew the policy I was quoted £2100. Had a look at independent suppliers of after market warranties and the cheapest for the same cover was £3000 and that was with a ceiling of £10K for a claim. I wonder if we are simply conditioned in this country to believe a dealer couldn't possibly be cheaper. Does any one agree?. (New Piston Head member as of today)

Sometimes.

I made a bit of money accidentally by over ording spares, and selling them on a normal market rates...

If the dealer is willing to continue to offer that warranty under similar conditions, grab it with both hands.

My experiences of aftermarket warranty companies are not good.

Edited because I don't know how to pluralise, or so it would seem.
