I was clearing out a cupboard today and I found some photos I've not seen in years - a special visit arranged for me to TWR headquarters in 1999 courtesy of a family friend employed there. But one photo intrigued me somewhat - the 1999 Arrows had a (Supertec?) V10, and the S40 BTCC car was a Volvo 5-cylinder. So what the hell is this V6 from??

I'm open to suggestions once you have all finished ROFL-ing at me aged 7

Looks a lot like the Metro 6R4 engine that in it's Turbocharged state found it's way into the XJ220.
Could be wrong though...

I think gravelben has performed the hammer/nail head interface with the XJR10 installation and of course I should have remembered that TWR was heavily involved with Jaguar as well as Volvo and the F1 team.

So, next question - what would a 10 year old group C engine be doing hanging round the BTCC or F1 departments?

hehe

Probably! Or perhaps being refreshed for a private customer, but you'd think it would be tucked away in some back room for that.

I'm no expert but I'm almost certain that's an engine of some sort. Probably a car engine if I'm going to stick my neck out.

Looks like a Honda K20/K24 of some variant (intake manifold at the front, as opposed to at the back on B Series engines). Rocker cover in Type-R variants are usually powder coated red, but that's unnecessary on a race engine.

4 cylinder, either 2.0 or 2.4 if still in factory sizing.
