...and when it doesn't work, ie, won't fill all the damage?Glassman said:

How do I find out if it can be repaired?
If you could draw a circle around it, what would the diameter of that circle be? Or what size coin would cover it?(and where, in relation to the driver/wiper swept area, is the damage?)
The damage is dead centre about 5 inches from the bottom!

A 10p would easily cover the entire damage including 3 tiny cracks!

It's those three wee cracks that an automated system will find hard to fill (not without running the risk of sending one of them across the windscreen as soon as the repair 'head' makes contact with the screen!). The damage is dead centre about 5 inches from the bottom!
A manually operated system will allow much more human intervention and manipulation - you can try one of those DIY disposable kits that our friend has linked to above, or you could have an acknowledged professional have a look at it.
Let me know where you are and I'll recommend someone. (YHM)

I have a 50p-sized stonechip surrounded with spider-web cracks in my Landy windscreen that was there since I've had it - autoglass et al refused to try doing it in case they put the screen through, so i bought one of those little DIY kits as linked. Whilst it hasnt visibly healed any of it (it still looks untreated), the wound is jammed full of resin forced right into it and is probably stronger than the surrounding triplex glass.
my advice therefore, if you are not overly concerned about aesthetics, have been informed by the pros that they wont do it, and plan on keeping the car for a while, is to DIY it yourself

It will effect your premium. Unless its a lot to pay out, I'd do it myself.
Eh? How does it affect your premium? Doesn't count as a claim and doesn't have to be declared when getting quotes, I've had 3 or 4 windscreens and a drivers window done under glass cover and just always paid the £60 excess.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
