I am getting married in October and currently musing over what would make an appropriate wedding car.

I am not a fan of anything with pre war tbh.

I am currently split between a Mk2 Jag 3.8 1959. And a modern Merc S-Class.
Ideally I would like the new Jag XJ, but cant find may companies that have them in their fleet. Though I would as the PH massive for opinions and experiences good or bad?

If anyone has any recommendations for good companies in the Basingstoke / Hampshire area that would be much appreciated also!

Jimbo.

Mk2 Jaguar. The Merc makes you look like you're on your way to the airport...

S-class Merc definitely says North Terminal of Munich Airport to me too. Probably being driven by a man who is so obese he has to adjust the steering wheel up so he can extract himself from the car.

Pink stretch limousine tongue out
I'd like something classic for my wedding so I would choose the Jag.
For some reason I don't think modern cars pull the wedding car look off too well?
If it was my choice it would be a Rolls

Cheers, the Mrs prefers the Mk2 Jag also.

I like the more modern motors because its not so cliche...

I had the same problem when I got wed.

SS Jaguar, or new Mercedes.

The problem was that the SS needed trailering to the church, I heard various horror stories about sparsely used classics breaking down on the day.

I went for a 2x Merc S500 in Black, looked the nuts. Proffesional drivers too. (Chauffeurs in the City)

I was at a wedding reception when another party rolled up in one of those. Many of the guests were wearing tracksuits, jump to your own conclusions wink

Avis prestige are doing the Jag XJ for just over £500 for the weekend if you're interested.

It's a lot of money for cars for a tiny period of time.

We had a family member who had a brand new E class he offered to drive as his wedding gift. Greatly received. Something to consider.

I know friends who had DBS's etc cost a small fortune and really they did 5 miles in them.
I'd rather hire one for the weekend and not call it a wedding hire then enjoy it as the day goes by so quickly

If you do want to go with a car then to me it has to be an E type timeless class

We had a 1957 Chevy, driven and owned by an enthusiast, made contact with him after placing an advert in Custom Car.

This would be Ideal, however no hire companies will insure me if I were the driver as under 25, another day though...

I'd go for a classic over the merc as others have said to much I'm been driven to the airport

How about a classic Mini?? I'm being serious here

A group of us attended a friends wedding in Devon (people travelled from the Midlands, Leeds, Kent and Wales for it we all dressed our cars up and the bridesmaids got to choose which cars they travelled in (they picked mine smile )

Although the bride and groom invited us all they didn't expect most of us to turn up due to the distance but it made their day seeing us all lined up to celabrate their speical day.

If you know anyone in a car club its worth asking if anyone can help.

Mk2 Jags are not the roomiest so ask your bride to bear that in mind. I know some reputable outfits offering both old and modern if you need help.

Jenson Interceptor loads of space and a big lump up front.

Failing that a Cobra 427 cui should be fun
