Would appreciate any advice on this one.

Currently speaking to a seller about this car - its an 11 years old Jap import- been in the UK for 5 years, and has been undersealed for the last year - but he doesn't know about prior to that.

So anyone with any experience of rusty jap motors / undersealing imported cars etc - how does this look condition wise.

Apologies for all the pics.

Bonus PH points for getting the car.....

Looks OK for an 11 year old car to me. Not mint obviously, but I wouldn't worry about it. Keep it undersealed and it should be OK.

That really doesn't look like 12 month old underseal to me.

Not a chance that's 12 month old underseal.
It doesn't look in particularly good condition either, rust bubbles showing through all over the place.

Seems to have a rear diff but not sure what's going on with the side skirts, not sure it's an Impreza.
On second look those sills aren't great at all. frown

I'm guessing Evo of some kind.

The shape of the Exhaust in the first pic tells me its an Evo IV - VI, and 11 years old makes it a VI.

White wheels suggest it may be a Tommi???

Agreed, the sills need a quick poke with a screwdriver to see how bad the corrosion is...

Looking at the wishbones I'd say evo 6 as well. If so tread carefully, i looked at quite a few and they looked cleaner than that but the chassis legs were goosed around the rear diff mounts!

PH points.

It's a VI Tommi Mak.

Problem is its at the other end of the country so I can't just nip round.

Wouldn't even bother if it was close, if the seller isn't being honest about the underseal and I really don't think he is, what else isnt he being honest about?
Look elsewhere would be my advice. Sorry frown

I really don't see that as looking bad at all?

I'd say thats an average underside of a 10 year old car. Really wouldn't put me off, and easy to underseal yourself if you were worried about it. At least you can see the condition of it and it's not hidden by layers of new underseal.
To me that's minor surface rust and will clean up with no issues.

Looks fine to me, bit of surface rust starting but nothing to worry about. Although I would agree it doesn't look like its hard under seal on it.
