S2000 v TT 240 Quattro Sport?
Discussion
Anyone got experience of both of these? I'm not in the market right now but I was just wondering peoples opinion...
Looks: I think the S2000 just pips it for me. S - 1, TT - 0.
Engine: S2000 has got to win this one. S - 2, TT - 0.
Interior: I think the QS would be a lovely place to sit. S - 2, TT - 1.
Practicality: QS I guess cos of it's hatch and Quattro. S - 2, TT - 2.
Performance: A draw? S - 3, TT - 3.
Reliability: You'd expect the TT to be pretty good cos it's an Audi but due to the S2000 always coming at the top of the reliability surveys... S - 4, TT - 3.
The drive: Would the general consensus be the S2k is more of the drivers car? S - 5, TT - 3.
Tuneability: TT wins this, 280hp+ is easily doable, though both have a huge 'aftermarket' following. S - 5, TT - 4.
Hhmm, I'm really not sure which I'd want!

I prefer the interior of the s2000, it's a lovely place to sit, the one thing the TT beats it for is the stereo as that was an afterthought in the s2000 from what I saw.
Tuning wise, you will NOT get 280bhp out of a stock TT or S3 regardless of what the tuning company say, the K04 turbo can't do it. TT however will have miles more torque than the s2000 especially if remapped.

I know what you mean mate - I used my DC2 Integra everyday and I loved driving it in all conditions, it was such an event [especially in bright yellow]! My main issue with the S2000 is the fact I'm 6' 6"...will I fit
I'm 6'4" and fit in my S2000 (just). Headroom isn't really the issue, it's legs and proximity to the non-adjustable steering wheel. You can get a seat lowering kit though. I suspect it will less of a squeeze in the TT. As I say, I fit ok (just) and if I were any bigger I would probably go for something else. You need to sit in one and play around with the driving position to really find out.
If it doesn't have the bucket seats, I can imagine the TT is the more comfy car. I actually like the TT but just not fun enough for me hence getting an S2000. I would, however consider the others (Z4, Boxster, 350Z, M3 etc.) as well.
Irrespective of the actual performance differences (there's not going to be much in it and they do it different ways) the S2000 will feel "alive" which makes it the more fun steer (plus great engine gearbox combo). The TT may be a more "pleasant/relaxing" daily drive but if that was the goal, I would just get the more practical (and probably cheaper) S3 or Golf GTI/R32 etc.

The Recaros in the QS are meant to be really comfy, and they do look so so good! I wouldn't get a Z4 as I'd want a 3.0si or an M, which I wouldn't get with a 10k budget. 350Z is a maybe though, I've always liked them. M3 would cost so much more to maintain...though if I could find one which had just had an Inspection 2

What about for everyday driving, getting to work, sitting on the M5 at 70mph, popping to the shop...would it still be S2000 all the way?
It depends where you are in your car life, but for me, for that driving, it might be the TT (and I own an S2000). I've had my fill of unrefined cars for commuting and I'm pretty tired of it.The S2000 isn't refined in the slightest, it's awkward to get in and out of, and at motorway speeds there's a shed load of wind noise so you have to have the very poor radio, very loud.
Of course, if you ever get near a good A or B road you'd want the S2k.
I've had the S2000, 350Z roadster and extended use of the TT.
The TT is a boat, didn't like it at all, also looks s
te IMHO.
The S2k is a go kart, lots of fun, sluggish at the bottom end when out of the power band but ultimately a great drivers car. Stereo swap out for a bluetooth unit and replacement speakers + amp is almost an essential.
The Z is great, more of a cruiser though. Pretty linear power delivery, remap available for very little cost which will give more power in lower gears. Easier than the S2k to drive but a very different beast. Stereo is OK but for some reason they all came with a tape deck and the roadsters didn't come with bluetooth which was annoying.
Z is awful on fuel economy - I averaged just under 13 mpg in ownership (2009 313 model), S2k averaged more like 18 mpg. Obviously depends how you drive it though

I'd have to do something about the radio though, I like my music while I'm driving

From the figures you posted up OP I'd say you've already made up your mind it's the S2000 you want.
I reckon you're right mate...it's the fitting in one that'll stop me!Interesting to hear thoughts on the QS, as I'm mid-haggling over one. I realise it's not the greatest of sports car chassis, but it didn't seem terrible. Frankly, oversteer/understeer is not something that should come into play on public roads anyway. Compared to a diesel Focus it's definitely a step in the right direction. For my needs at this point in time it ticks pretty much every box - but more importantly, I like it, hence why I'm taking the plunge.
