I see it used a fair bit on here, eg... I like those seats, I'd like some in my "Tiv"

I'm guessing TVR?

I think it must be a PH thing as google doesn't help much. My personal favourite suggestion..

Tornado Intercept Vehicle!

So unless there's a bunch of amateur storm chasers on here...

Got it, cheers peeps. I suppose it's a bit like Beemer/Bimmer which is actually longer than the original BMW. silly

Is it a PH thing or TVR in general?

If i had a TVR i would treat it with respect and scorn anyone who talked about theirs in such a slang term. But i don't. And I'm jealous. cry

In general, but the two are intertwined. This place started off as a fansite for the TVR S-Series originally.

I've always learned it's bad style to use the same word in a sentence (or even paragraph) several times, so in a TVR forum there's bound to be a few synonyms floating around, used to avoid sounding a bit repetitive...

You TVR owners should be lucky none of your cars have been branded with the ridiculous name that certain owners give to the MR2 Turbo: "Tubby"

I suspect Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La-La and Po must have had significant influence on these people yes

Could never bring myself to write it or say it to be honest, sounds so very 'jolly hockey sticks'. hehe

It's a TVR.

I've seen 'titty' thrown about on the SELOC (Lotus forums) a few times ... I'm guessing it's short for titanium (the colour, not metal). Alternatively perhaps 'titty' means powered by the engine from an Audi TT ... ? smile I'm going with titanium.

It's better than lengthening BMW to beemer, and yes I'm guilty of using it myself.

Someone once told me that PH started as a TVR forum, hence the high number of TVR owners on here (myself included) and the amount of TVR categories
Not sure if it's true or not ?

As Chris 71 has already said 'Pistonheads' was started by 'Petrol Ted' about 10years ago as a site for TVR owners and in particular the S series , it grew and grew and he sold it to Haymarket about 4years ago.

I never knew that! I always wondered why there were so many TVR forum categories compared to other things.
