.. to change the front and back brake lines on a 1999 Peugeot 106.

I know you cant always say exactly especially with older cars and other issues arrising mid job etc just looking for a ruf idea.

draining the brake fluid,
taking off the old lines,
fitting the new ones,
replacing the brake fluid.

Shouldnt take more than 2-3hrs IMO.

So really it depends on how much of a ripoff the garage you use is. What is their hourly rate?

In a nutshell yes. I'm looking to supply the actual lines myself so the cost of everything else involved basically.

They got an advisory for rust on my last MOT and would prefer to get them done before the next test.

IME you shouldn't get charged more than a tenner for brake fluid, avoid getting ripped off by supplying this yourself too.

As I said, it shouldn't take a competent mechanic more than 3hrs to do all this. The two garages I use charge 40 and 50 per hr respectively.

Good opportunity to go for a braided setup replacing the flexi's. Get on 106owners - once you get past the horrid chavs there's some good deals, including fairly cheap and very decent braided line kits.

Thanks for all the reponses guys - Ive had a look on ECP and they do the fluid for £9-10 and I will be getting the braided lines so thanks for the heads up as I haven't purchased them yet but have been looking at them.

Yet again PH never fails!

p.s hoping to get rid of the car by the end of the year either way but the MOT is due in Dec and don't fancy a big bill close to xmas should the car not sell.
