Hi all

recently been stung with the purchase of a car so having a re - think into the cars would like, looking into hot hatches so to speak and want half decent mpg and reliability but also some fun, one of the ones seen isn't that much fun lol

i have found 3 cars, and would love some feedback smile , also open to suggestions as long as its at the correct age to get car finance, doesn't have a list of known issues as long as my arm and won't brake the bank , upper limit is 5k really and can't have done a million miles smile

list of cars i have found

2007 citroen c2 code (has the vts engine)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

vauxhall corsa 1.4 sxi + , (tempted by irmscher bits and leather)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

and finally a volkswagon lupo gti (highest miles but heard fun and good at holding value)

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...

thanks again all and look forward to feedback and or suggestions

I have the VTS and its a really nice car to drive BUT;

It is awfull on motorways and long journeys, does 30mpg and has had £1000 worth of work done in the 7 months i have owned it.

But even taking all that into account it really does make me smile driving it, its not a rocket ship but coming from a 1.2 corsa it really does fly along and the handling is very good.

Mine is totally standard;

I have replaced the clutch, thorttle and inlet manifold bolts (very common on vts/codes) However now it is fully working I love it.

It has very short gearing which is how it ahceives the quick acceleration, so 80mph will see 5k rpm and a very very noisy journey, I just sit at about 60-65 and chill out otherwise it is far to annoying!!

They are very cheap to insure and offer pretty good bang for your buck, looking back I wish I had gone for the code but none the less I am happy with my little c2.

the 30mpg side is worrying as 60% of my work journey is 60-80mph

Actually, just looked at the prices in your link, i hadn't before. £4,800 for a 9 year old Lupo seems a bit mental to me. I wouldn't pay that, out of principal. It's a nice little car, but there's really nothing special about them.
its hard to find anything eh?

yes its been sacked off as idea anyway as no finance available oldest think can go is 2004

If you drive carefully you can just about see 40 mpg.

Oh and the fuel tank is very small, I see around 240 miles per tank.

Im not trying to put you off the c2 as I love mine, just trying to let you know the negatives of it.
