Can't remember the last time I saw one....

Just did a search in wiki and they're still making new models. The range topper is the Lada Granta. Cool name

Nooooo!

Drove one in Sydney in 1997 for a year as it was a gift to my roomate from his dad (It was a joke, red and communist, just like his son, his dad was a city banker.)

It was soooooo st, often redering walking preferable. Gutless, wallowy, think 1976 built quality fit and finsih of a Friday afternoon Leyland. 19 point turns were a necessity.

The idea of buying one of these new for £11K is utterly laughable.

During the 90s, fleets of unroadworthy low-loaders came over and hauled them all to Poland.

Theyre just another Chevrolet/GM brand, arent they?

The Lada Niva Replacement (2123) for example is sold as the chevrolet niva.

I've seen quite a few of the older Niva's and they look like they would be capable, never driven one but been tempted by the unusual looks of the Niva, sorry to hear they arent that good!

I think it depends what theyre up against. My grandparents had one in the early/mid 80s as a workhorse. It outlasted the various BL crud they had in the same time frame.

A workhorse eh? I wouldn't use one as a skip.
