2 seats
RWD
Convertable
> 200BHP
< £6000
Not stupid running costs
> 20 MPG
Something that I may be able to get an LPG tank in (full spare wheel or big enough boot)

What I really want is a Chimera, but the MPG is horendous and I am too worried about running costs on one... also for 6k I don't think I'd find a good one.

Current thoughts are S2000 or 3.0 Z3.

Anyone else have any suggestions? Scratching my head a bit here...

Also no MX5s!

Honestly there's quite a choice out there.

However if you want a TVR on a lesser budget maybe consider a Triumph TR7 V8 or a Wedge shape TVR. This money will buy you the best with enough left over to truly sort it out and make it perform.

How important is LPG?

MR2 Turbo MK2 might be worth a look, or even a C4 Lt1 Corvette if you can find a manual in budget.

944 turbo worth a look too.

S15 is outside of budget, they're still 8k+.

Should get a lovely S14/S14a for 6k though.

Can you get into a 3.0 Z4 for that?

Sorry - added to OP that it should have a roof that comes off.

Don't like the look of the wedges or the TR7 - nice but not what I would DD.

A Chimeara will easily return 20+mpg, up to 30+mpg on a motorway run at 70mph.

Agreed that £6K is a tad optimistic for one though.

So it's a DD'er? How many miles a year will you be doing and on what sort of roads?

Do you want to spend the whole amount on a car or does it include converting to LPG?

Also is a 2 seater open top what are wanting, or would a 2+2 tin top be a consideration?

Is a M Roadster (Z3) in budget? I know they aren't favoured on PH as a rule, but probably a very good capable mainstream car that's just slightly bonkers. A tame TVR if you would.

If you're mileage is pretty low, would an M or S Series TVR appeal?

A C4 Corvette would seem to tick a good number of the boxes so long as you are ok with LHD and can get past the stereotypical view of American performance cars. The best way too look at them is a mass produced TVR. 90% of the TVR lunacy and ability but with a more civilised interior and Ford Focus running costs and reliability.

VX220. Not 200 bhp but light enough to be brisk.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3591792.htm - oops, Cat C. They can be had for sub £6k unclassified though.

Not quite in budget. Or if one could be found for sub-6k, I imagine it would need some work.

Ticks all the boxes plus a fantastic drive.

Probably less than 8k a year TBH, I catch the train to work so won't be commuting in it - trips up to the GF on weekends, the odd hoon and general pottering around - I have an R6 too for going a bit crazy on.

That's on the car - I have a few LPG kits lying around and can fit them myself so that isn't a worry.

I think 2 seater open top is what I want - I guess a 2+2 tin top would be ok - if it was something like a 911 for example. Something sporty and a bit cool + mad.

Looked at Z3Ms and would love one but too expensive and can't get past the awful seats!

Not overly keen on the idea of a corvette TBH - I know you like american cars but they just don't really appeal to me.
