I live out in the country, and from my village to any level of decent population is about 6 miles of country road. The majority of this is 50mph (just reduced from NSL) with the odd 30 zone here and there.

All the fking time there's a fking bus that drives at twenty fking five mph in the 50.

25 in a 50 is a pisstake. They used to do 25 in the 60 too. I mean, why the hell do they do this? Its dangerous as it forces people to overtake, and to be honest, the whole 5 miles of road has one 300 yard stretch where you can actually overtake.

it's not just one driver, its any time of the day or night, same bus route, and there's no alternative way to travel.

As an example, this morning, there was a queue of 17 cars behind the bus. Car number 1 wouldnt overtake and i could see myself lining up overtakes here and there which would have been dodgy had i actually taken them. Its tts like these fking busses that cause people to do stupid things.

I wouldn't mind 45, 40, maybe even 35mph in the interest of passenger comfort, but 50% of the speed limit for 6 miles is a fking pisstake. You wouldn't travel between junctions on the motorway at 35mph...

Professional drivers? My fking arse.

As an example, here's what 75%+ of the road is like to drive on.

Complain to the operator. Certainly the vehicle is not restricted to those speeds so it must be plain dickery at work.

As unbelievably frustrating as that is, wouldn't it help to leave a few minutes earlier so you get in front of the bus before it's even reached you?

hehe

It is the one thing I miss about my current car. Before, I had three options when dealing with upcoming issues on fast dual carriageways: slow down, change lanes or accelerate. Now I just have two and sometimes it makes more sense to be able to accelerate hard which would either get me into a safer position or allow me to make it safer for someone eg when you have lanes joining a dual carriageway. My current vehicle has a 1.8 litre engine but is heavy. Not an ideal PHer's car.

Although it's wrong to do so , the bus driver probably goes slow to make sure he arrives at each stop along the way on time or as near as possible. For every stop he passes that has no one waiting to get on or off means he will arrive at the next ahead of time and will therefore need to go slower.

I'm sure the company would receive complaints if the bus was constantly arriving earlier than the posted times causing people to miss the bus. It's as much the fault of the 1st vehicle behind the bus for not overtaking when the opportunity arises for a long tail back forming

A seventeen-car overtake would be a bit mental, I think the best I've done is five. Try leaving earlier, or buy a motorbike and filter*

*DISCLAIMER: The bus driver will eventually murder you if you take this option

I'd love a bike. I think the R1200rt is a lovely bike, but my parents have banned me from getting a bike licence. Im nearly in my 30's! biggrin

More than that, its being arsed to do the test and learn something new again.

Surely something doing 25mph is easier to overtake than something doing 45mph? The problem is the idiots who queue up behind slow moving vehicles without leaving space.

There is no way that I would attempt an overtake on that road.

Have you seen how much oncomming traffic there is in you picture.

Oh and as above, bikes don't get stuck as often smile

They might not be there anymore. I don't think they're parked.

As someone else has already pointed out it'll be because of the drivers timetable and to prevent from running early (which the company can get fined for and he can lose his job for) he'll be running at a speed that ensures he sticks to the times.

Wouldn't your rant be better directed to the idiots who can't overtake a slow moving vehicle going 25mph? Maybe he's driving slow to encourage them to overtake.

Is this a new route?
If it has to go so slow to keep to it's timetable then maybe the times need adjusting.
Buses travel at more than 25 in a 30 zone, so should certainly be doing more in a 50 zone.

I've just rechecked the picture and the cars are still there, I think they may be parked after all.

I thought people lived in the country for a slower pace of life. If it doesn't suit then move and stop moaning

Those cows don't seem to have moved much either. I think they might be fake.

Fake or not, if you fitted wheels and an engine to them, then I reckon they could overtake a slow moving bus .

Have you considered taking the bus, it will be just as quick and probably cheaper and less stressful.
